My Story
Welcome! I’m Dr. Shika Pappoe — a kidney health specialist passionate about helping people live fuller, healthier lives. I founded this clinic to create a space where care feels personal, thoughtful, and empowering — where you’re seen as a whole person, not just your diagnosis.
I am a Yale-trained physician who completed my residency and nephrology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where I also earned an MPH from Harvard. My career has spanned private practice, academic medicine at USC, and executive leadership roles in value-based kidney care. After earning my MBA from Wharton, I led transformative initiatives as Regional Medical Officer and Director of the Renal Program at CareMore, and later served as the founding Chief Medical Officer at Strive Health and as Chief Medical Officer at Hill Physicians and Carna Health.
Today, as the founder and CEO of MitoKhon Advisors, I bring together my experience in nephrology, public health, and business innovation to redesign care in a more patient-centered way. MitoKhon Advisors is a social-impact innovation firm focused on building more compassionate and equitable healthcare systems.
My Purpose
I started this practice because I believe care should begin with connection — listening to your story, understanding your goals, and working together to find what health means to you. Whether you’re managing chronic kidney disease, hypertension, diabetes, or simply aiming to stay well, my mission is to help you feel informed, supported, and confident every step of the way.
When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me taking dance classes, exploring the outdoors with my dog, discovering local cafés, or spending time with friends and family.

“Aurius” is derived from aurum, the Latin root for gold—a symbol of purity, integrity, and enduring value. Gold has long represented healing, illumination, and strength, serving as a benchmark for excellence across cultures and time.
This meaning holds special personal significance for me. I am from Ghana, a country historically known as the Gold Coast, renowned for its abundance of gold and rich cultural legacy. Gold is woven into Ghana’s history, art, and traditions, symbolizing not only wealth, but resilience, wisdom, and dignity.
By choosing the name Aurius, I wanted to honor my heritage and the roots that shaped who I am—my values, my worldview, and my deep commitment to service. It is a reflection of pride in where I come from and gratitude for the foundation it gave me.
